Seriously, fuck that guy.
I just listened to THIS audio clip of Bale throwing a tantrum on the set of the new Terminator movie. (Before you give it a listen, be forewarned that it's NSFW - Loads of profanity.)
So, here's the setup, Bale is acting SO HARD in a scene of McG's new Terminator movie, that the mere sight of the director of photgraphy - doing his job and checking the lights - set Bale off into a tizzy. A pompous, spoiled, raging asshole rant about this other guy. He threatens to kick this guys ass. He demands that this guy get fired. He refuses to come back to the set until this guy is fired.
And the guy - "Shane" the Director of Photography for this gig - has the sheer audacity to - apologize immediately?!? HOW DARE HE?!?
The director, McG, is called over and he isn't sufficiently outraged to mollify Bale. In fact, nobody but Bale seems to realize what a terrible offense this guy has committed. Why, it's tantamount to Bale tearing down this guys lights! Which he also threatens to do.
You know what? Fuck Christian Bale. Nothing he has done on film, so endears me to him that I can easily ignore this. He isn't fucking Batman. He isn't the Machinist. He isn't a master illusionist. He's a bully. And an asshole. And a terrible person. The absolute worst aspect of actors and hollywood that I can imagine. He's it.
I can't imagine the circumstances where this type of screaming, shitty behavior is acceptable. It's because the people he's working with are professionals, that he didn't get HIS ass kicked by everyone there. (THAT is the headline I want to read - "Christian Bale gets his ass kicked by Director of Photography".)
So, I'm done with this guy. Absolutely done with him. His star might be earning him 20 mil+ for his films, but he's no draw for me. I could care less if he's in this shit-ass Terminator movie (Spoiler Alert: The real older John Connors is a coward until he's killed, skinned and then his skin is worn by a terminator with the mind of a hardened criminal inside. There, I just ruined the fucking movie for you. Just like the writes ruined it by ignoring everything set up in the first two movies and tossing it out the window. I just saved you 8 bucks.) I won't go see this movie. I'll talk other people out of it. And I'll tell them about this audio tape and send them links to it and they can hear for their own ears, what a rotten fuck Christian Bale is.
I hope Johnny Depp shoots this shithead in the face in "Dillinger". I know it's not historically accurate, but that's what I want to see.
You know what, I'm skipping that movie too. The "Bale Ban" is in full effect. Tell your friends. Christian Bale is a total wanker. Tell them why. Send them a link to that audio tape. Spread the word!
Fuck that guy... all the way to the box office.

Who is McG? I can't think of any directors with that abbrev.
I'm no Bale lover but it seems suspicious that they have this whole thing on tape. Could it be that this someone doing a decent impression of him?

That's...um...wow. Like really WOW, insanity. Ok...well, I'm rather saddened that I DID like him so much in some of his films. I'm sort of done with him too. Ick. That is so incredibly uncool. I'm sort of speechless, at the moment...yeah.
Chip, "McG" is no abbreviation for the director of this movie. It's the name that he chose for himself. He directed both "Charlie's Angels" movies.

I think it's really Bale. Sounds just like him. And it got released to TMX. Likely, because the sound guys who were recording it (or possibly DVD supplementary guys) thought that Bale was absolutely in the wrong and wanted him to pay for it. Or, this sort of thing has happened before and they released it to call him out on it. Not unheard of in Hollywood.

i think this guy is just a sucky, lackluster actor so I don't see his movies anyway. The problem is, once you start boycotting all the actors that are a-holes on set you won't be seeing that many movies. HA! take that hollywood.
I guess it's good they don't record everyone. I have a feeling he is not alone in his baby tantrum throwing.
I'm going to have to agree with Crescent on this. There are way too many douche bag actors floating around Hollywood for me to start boycotting all of them. I'd be missing a lot of movies and tv shows.
I'm going to play devils advocate, because I think it'll be an interesting case...
The Director of Photography was doing something on set that was distracting to the performers in the scene. Doing so compromises the scene. Similarly to an audience member talking during a movie takes other viewers out of the experience. If the actors are taken out of the moment the scene loses something.
If that scene gets used in the movie and it sucks, nobody is going to say "Wow, the DP really messed up that scene." All the blame falls on the actors. Its the actors that take the heat. DPs and Grips, can hide in the tiny credits that no one reads. Actors on the other hand become responsible for everything. So He may be justified in being upset.
You may say "Well they could just re-shoot the scene" and you'd be right. But when the director is looking through all his film during for editing, maybe he picks the less successful scene because of other factors, clouds, the right timing of a car passing in the background, whatever.
Point is, while the cameras are rolling you better have a good reason to be mucking about.
That said...
Christian Bale could use a chill pill. Not all situations can be fixed by yelling.
He's such a pathetic shithead. His fanatics are excusing him now with various idiotic "arguments", one of which is "roid rage". (Yes, they're using it as defense...), since he's been clearly munching steroids and hormones for years now (compare his look between The Machinist and that fifth Batman flick; also notice the disappearing wrinkles on his face).
The thing is, 'roid rage usually doesn't happen because steroids magically turn gentle lambs into screaming lunatics. They simply make bullying assholes with furious tempers even LESS controlled than they normally are If you're meek, steroids won't suddenly turn you into a Bale (which is now a synonym for "asshole", AFAIAC); if you already are a Bale, steroids wil make you rage more often.
One more thing: remember a guy named Val Kilmer? Little more than 10 years ago, that actually was a big name. Same sort of pretty boy, same story of getting a Batman gig, same story of being "on the verge of stardom"... and same story of being a filthy slimebag on sets, screaming and abusing the dirty peasants who dared look at him. And where is he now?

Yeah, Greg, I can see that side of it, and the DP shouldn't be distracting the actors.
But that's not Bale's responsibility to deal with. If anything, it should be the director who does anything about it.

Don't worry everyone. He said he was sorry. That makes it all okay now. Am I the only one that thinks he's a shitty actor?
You know, I loved the Batman movies but my love for them had nothing to do with Bale as Bruce Wayne.
